Yellowstone River Rafting

Big, beautiful and free-flowing, the Yellowstone River rolls along the north boundary of Yellowstone National Park and through the many rapids of upper Paradise Valley. This is a wonderful river for all ages. We love rafting and we want you to love it too!

Help the Yellowstone Raft Co. celebrate our 35th season running rafting trips on the Yellowstone River!

We are the only company to be fully permitted  by the National Forest Service and National Park Service to run raft trips on the Yellowstone River. That means we access the river right at the northern border of Yellowstone National Park and offer the longest half day trip on this stretch of river. Our guides are trained in Swiftwater Rescue, First Aid, CPR and all boats carry emergency safety equipment to ensure a fun and safe adventure for you and your family and friends.

Half Day Yellowstone Whitewater

Our experienced guides will show you fun and excitement on this outstanding 8 mile, Class II-III white water stretch of the Yellowstone. This is a perfect shorter trip for your family at approximately 2 hours on the water and a 3-hour round trip.

All trips begin at our office where our friendly staff will check you in, answer any questions you may have, and help you get geared up. A short drive will take you to the river access site right at the Northern Boundary of Yellowstone, where the Gardner River joins the Yellowstone River.

The Half Day Trip:
After a brief river orientation and paddle instruction from your guide, we get right into the action with waves we affectionately call "Wake Up" followed by "Pumphouse rapids" and "Bridge Rapids". Next comes "Maneater", "Julia's waves", "Locher's", "Picketts" and "Rock Garden". All fun rapids guaranteed to give you the splashes you've come for. At this point the rapids become a little more spread out and you'll have the opportunity to take in some of the scenery before "Queen of the Waters" and "Airport rapids". Pristine views of Mount Sepulcher and Electric Peak will captivate you as you float along Yellowstone's northern boundary and towards the "Sleeping Giant", a rapid known for its late summer awaking. You'll pass by Osprey nests and Bald Eagles as they fish along the banks of the mighty Yellowstone River. Brave rafters will have a chance to feel the current if they choose to swim through "Swimmers Rapid". You'll pass by The Devil's Slide and witness geothermal phenomenon at La Duke Hot Springs. "Preacher's, Brogans, and Last Chance Rapids" will conclude the half day trip just upstream of Corwin Springs, a small Montana community steeped with history. From the takeout a driver will bring you back to our office where you can change into dry clothes and check out photos of yourself, friends, and family braving the rapids. Our office is located downtown and within walking distance of many fine restaurants and local gift shops.
